Public transportation in Dubrovnik is very well organized. Maps can be somewhat confusing, but just ask any local for directions on how to get to your destination, they are always happy to help. Public buses (Libertas company) are orange in colour and they can take you to any part of the city.
Tickets can be bought at any kiosk, on the bus, on hotel receptions and some tourist agencies. If you are buying on the bus bring exact change with you (15 kn) if you as drivers may not be able to return the needed change. This may result in you having to miss your ride, find some change and wait for the next bus. Buying tickets at a kiosk is a good way to save money (as the tickets are cheaper there – 12 kn) and to avoid the crowd while entering the bus.
Each single ticket is valid for an hour since its first use. You can also buy a daily ticket (30 kn) in all abovementioned locations except on buses.
Traffic information in English is available at 98.5FM during the tourist season only.
